I have just had the master and slave cylinders replaced (due to leaking) on a 300 tdi. Although the clutch plate disengages fine now, the clutch has become incredibly heavy compared to before. I have multiple back disc degeneration and this change has changed a great LR into an unusable one! This is a disaster and unless I can lighten the clutch to the old level will force me to stop driving it. Any suggestions/advice very gratefully received. This LR is a life time ambition and I am devastated at the change. It may be that genuine cylinders were replaced with Britpart ones.

I have a feeling that the heavier clutch is due to it working, and not just forcing oil past the seals... Erm, the only thing i can really suggest is to modify it so that the pedal is even longer, but im not really sure how to suggest you go about this!

I'm not sure if it has any bearing, but there are two Slave Cylinders listed for the R380 dependent on Gearbox number, I ended up getting a genuine LR one (after buying the wrong one), and my clutch action is very light...the TD5 we have at work is proper feckin heavy in comparison.
Although as I say I'm not sure of the difference, visually they where
very similar, may just be union sizes.
Might be worth investigating.

i am led to beleive that changing the clutch pedal mechanism for that fitted to a TD5 gives a much lighter pedal due to the additional mechanical advantage provided by the TD5 version

this is one of those bits of info that i have lodged in my head after having read it somewhere some time ago but i have no real world knowledge of if this is a practical option
