Ok so I read the how to remove the egr system before anyone shouts, and I didnt buy anthing, I bashed a blank plate out of scrap, and welded a bit of knackered door skin over the hole in the intake pipe.

But On my particular engine on the other side to the turbo at the top of the head, there is another gizmo that looks a bit like an egr system, one pipe goes into the head, another to the sump and t'other goes to the intake, I know this isnt a exhaust recirc system, more of a crankcase gas recirculation system, can I dump this too?.
Any regs to do with crankcase ventilation might not apply to me as this engine is going in a 1981 series.

I dont have mi camera I'm at work, heres a photo I took t'other day.
The bit in question is to the left of the yellow oil filler cap at the top of the engine inbetween and closer to the camera than 2 and 3 injector.
The little bottle shape device, with the 1/2" pipe coming off to the right.
Crank case ventilation widget methinks.

oil separator chap

Crankcase and rocker cover ventilation..if you disconnect it from the air intake you will get an oil mist spraying everywhere. I believe you can get filters/separators to go on the end if you disconnect it from the air intake (you replace/clean/drain this every now and again)
