im after a little help

Friend of mine has 300tdi discovery with edc although it is an off-roader it's well maintained always idle as it should but recently it idles high to the point he can't drive it it

Roughly 1600 rpm when cold and 2500 when warm

Hav tried disconnecting both coolent temp sensors boost pressure sensor and afm still makes no difference

Any ideas I could try or possible faults any one has come across before

Would be allot easier if it had a cable accelerator :(

As always any help much appreciated

Throttle position sensor for the EGR ECU .... that's the black thing with wires on top of the throttle spindle ...

Also check the white and black wires by the fuel filter, as they can chaff through and give problems such as yours ...

Thanks for the replys when you say throttle spindle is that the one on the pedal or on the diesel pump

I have a spare ecu to try as well

Will report back with my findings for future members is they have the same trouble

Neither of them pumps are like mine the one on the right looks closer but doesn't have the gold linkage on it mine just has wiring

As for the egg control on the pump can this be removed and cleaned or is a new one required

Cheers

Just to update this

It was all down to a faulty tps switch fitted a good second hand unit and is now spot on

Cheers

Just to add if you have a second hand 1 you don't have to remove your old one to check it just disconnect it under the bonnet behind the fuel filter connect the new one and move by hand if it works ,,, then stick your head in the footwell
