I have removed the gearbox xmember from my Disco 1 to fit in my 110 but the body mounts are in the way and there are no upper forward mounting holes in the chassis.
I have looked at the Defender xmember and it seems to have a different end plate. I can cut my xmember to match but the Disco had an exhaust mount on the upper front passenger side bolt, does a 300Tdi Defender have/need this mounting?

when i put 300tdi auto in 90 used the oe discovery crossmember , and just removed the small area of sideplate where the sideplates clashed with the webs on the chassis

Did you have the upper front hole or did you drill the chassis?

IIRC the holes are all there its just a matter of modding the x-member sideplates might include welding a bit of plate on as well , cant check on vehicle as not where I am at the moment .

Thanks, I have to weld a bracket in for the front lower bolt but my chassis doesn't have the front upper holes.

Are you sure you are putting the xmember in the correct place , as I thought the chassis were all much the same
my 110 which was a V8 had the holes for the cross member for r380 type and that had small separate mountings for the lt85 ?

I haven't got the crossmember in yet because I need to cut it to clear the webs but I can see the three common holes will match. The chassis is 1988/9, so no forward upper holes because it had an LT77 fitted.

You were right I didn't have it in the right place because I thought I had to keep the bolted crossmember that was there in.
I have removed this and put the crossmember right place, I can only pick up two of the three top bolts and the lower bottom one. Is this what you found? Looks like my 110 chassis is deeper than the Disco.
