300tdi disco engine into 110

i've found a well mantained disco 300tdi attached to an autobox what are my options here. wack in the 300tdi with an R380 from a defender or if i got the engine and autobox attached is this a possible conversion. can someone run all the technicalities past me for any options i.e what i'll need. it's a nice engine and shame to waste it. thanks in advance for any help. kev

I heard from a local indy who i asked what kind of engine i should look out for for my 90 that pretty much anything except one from an automatic would be ok, i can't remember why but i think the automatics have something to make the gear changes smoother which makes them incompatible (or difficult) for a manual gearbox. Need an expert to corroborate - where's Sean when you need him???
