Hi , Just a quickie ... is my crank gear all the way in ? There's a 3mm+ gap at the back of it but it does not want to go in any further . At the front it does not clear the back of the woodruff key , I've seen pictures on this thing which seems to show the crank further back . Thanks in advance guys .

When I push against it with both thumbs it moves in and out slightly as if it was pushing against the O ring

I'm no expert. But there's an O ring that fits behind the crank gear, could that be in the wrong position not allowing the gear to push fully home? IIRC the O ring is ment to sit inside the gear, but don't quote me on that.

You're quite right One Life , the O ring is the offending article . I took out the new ring and pushed the gear back on , it went fully home . With the ring back on there is no way the gear will push home . What degree of force is required to get the gear over the ring , and what method could be used to get it there ? Here's a picture , not that it helps much , but the gear is about 5mm proud of the back casing .

The gear is now in place , I wound it in with the pulley nut . It now sits close to the casing and just behind the key .
