hi all with clog around the corner im trying to sort out problems iv lived with untill now.
i have about 1/4 to 1/2 a turn play in my transfer box causing a loud clunk on pulling away and changing gear. iv lived with it for a while now but not its causing loud vibrations and killing props ujs and its just a matter of time till it goes bang.
so i have a 300tdi disco r380 gearbox correct me if im wrong that struggles to pull past 50 i run 265 75 16 tyres
iv got the chance of a transfer box of a 53 reg 90 td5 with no play at all and only 32000 mile
will this bolt straight on and fit my props and maybe improve my topend speed
any help advise will be great
after finding out,,, it will bolt straight on and props fit the same but you will need to prise out speedo gear and fit yours and swap hi/low housing for yours 6x bolts,ratio will be 1.4 instead of your 1.2,switch apart from difflock can be left unconnected,ensure 2 bolts going front to back are the shortest ,and next shortest goes in rear to front lowest hole
I now need to know,, if I got a transfer box from a 300 tdi 90 would i still have to swap the high low housing cheers
I just dont want any complications
