Hi I'm having wiring trouble with my defender. I had an earth problem so I jiggled the earth lead about to try start my defender as I was doing that there was a short or summit around the fuse box area so now when I put the key to the start position it's putting power to two auxiliary light switches I wired up instead if putting the power to the starter any ideas?

My idea would be that you might have wired the light switches wrongly ..

All you can really do is trace the wiring out properly using a multi-meter or cable, battery and bulb, find where and what is actually shorting or going live.

If you could jiggle the earth lead, then tighten it up so it can't jiggle .. loose connections are a big no-no ..
