3 Door Roof Light Bar

Hi all

New to this forum, and wanted to share my recent project which was a light bar for a 3 door freelander.

What do you think?

Side profile?..
Sticks up too much for me i think with how much i use the rack, is it one crom ses88?, how easy is it to get the wiring to where it needs to goand keep water tight etc?

Not one of mine, I'm still prototyping.

Bar should be lower with the lights mounted on top, just looks better that way, good effort nonetheless

Tbh i quite like the pre made plastic pods with x4 spots the 3m on..

I made everything from off cuts at work, so it was free.
I wasn't planning on making it as high, but i over calculated. The Side profile is that of a triangular shape, it was the clamping idea that took a lot of time. I Haven't yet wired them up will be a job this weekend

but will use glands and grommets to provide water tightness.

I am going to spray the bar with a midnight blue hammer finish which will match the color which may help blend it in.

Yeah I've had a right chew on getting a bracket system made that isn't overly expensive so that its commercially viable, think I have it cracked though

a bit high in my opinion, how does it grab to the roof? can you please put up some pics that show some more detail.

what is the purpose of those bits on the roof to begin with? were they put there for after market land rover products, ie roof rack fixing points, roof lights etc??
just interested to know

now as those brackets cost you nowt, how much to make me a set

Probably some kind of fixing point for channel finisher.

Well whaddayaknow, your clamping solution is remakably similar to mine, I'd post a pic, but i'll leave that til I get them on the market. It bolts the same way, but the inside bit is angled and the bar bolts to the top creating a fully covered capping that covers the full channel.

As for the purpose of the channels, they're the seams between the sides of the car and the roof. They're seam welded and spotted in some places.

Here is my version....

Doesn't move at all. The bar is off at the moment though as I have had a few trips to London and back over the last month or so...

See i'd have thought that would move at motorway speeds with the drag, maybe not lift off, but enough to twist it upwards

That's an awesome idea! I wander if there is one of those mounts near the rear?
I haven't managed to remove the channel finisher on the rear yet...

Also will this work on the 5 door?
