hi

a friend of my has a Auto 2004 freelander se and he is experiencing the hill descent light on intermittently. I have removed and used wd40 on the brake switch plunger and there didn't appear to be any change in the short term.

I have read somewhere about a wire breaking off that may need reconnection can any one help me with locating it or will the replacement of the brake switch definitely cure the problem.

thanks for the very prompt reply,

do i need to remove any trim from the gearstick or is it in the selectable switch itself ?

Um.....

There is a brake pedal switch reset option !

Pull the plunger out a little and it will like click to reset position, then reinstall. No idea why you would WD it tbh :)

hi

I wd40'd it after reading many times that one of the factors with the switch is the plunger like item sticking and not releasing properly. I did pull the plunger in and out a number of times and the action got smother each time.

hi

Can anyone please help me by pointing me towards the location of the suspect wires :confused: .

As I'am completely new to land-rovers and don't wish to wreck my friends car interior and waste my time looking for something that i dont in actual fact know what it is i'am looking for

help would be greatly appreciated

the suspect wires are on the back of the hdc switch, which I believe on the 2006 auto is still mounted in front of the gear selector.

pull the leather shroud from around the gear stick where it fits to the console and then you can put your fingers on the back of the switch and push it out
