Morning All,

I've recently bought my 3.9 disco, and will be turning it into a trailer....

Been looking around on the internet for small upgrades to do to the engine, the disco has only done about 50k miles, so im assuming it wont need much doing to it (cam followers etc) for another 20k or so?

Megasquirt is a bit much at the moment, but would probably be a "nice to have" sometime in the future.

Has anyone ever dealt with RPI engineering? they offer an enhanced spark upgrade, which comprises of OEM dizzy & cap, magnacore leads, NGK plugs and an in-line amplifier box, all for around the £300 mark, does this sound like a worthwhile upgrade?

I believe you have to install a fuel pressure regulator as well?

From what I understand, this will be the first step, before having performance cams, heads etc...?

I understand that the engines have been designed to be *fairly* reliable as standard, would the other option be not to fix something that's not broken...?

Any Thoughts?

Cheers

Loz

OEM dizzy & cap you should still have the genuine parts, so those are existing. Magnacore leads... nothing wrong with using genuine leads, NGKPlugs...OK, and the amplifier... you have one it's called a coil.

So worthwhile upgrade? yes or no, that's up you :)

Reliable as standard, I would think so, as mine has only had failed water pump bearing in it's 18 year life and so required a replacement pump and thats only time the spanners have been out... other than servicing ie. changing plugs and fluids and a battery :)

Forgot to say the engine also has a fuel pressure regulator fitted..
