2post lift and wheel locking

front wheel locking while on 2 post lift after it had been on there a while as i changed tie rod bush any ideas it only released after starting and engaging gear only one wheel was locked but not brake more like diff lock last time it done it both front wheels locked

Hmmm well if I understood that, you have a 1/2 shaft issue.

In or out of gear with the axle/wheels unwieghted, turning the nearside wheel clockwise will spin the offside wheel anti-clockwise.

on the ground you don’t get to the position you are on the lift.

I think I maybe talking rubbish.

Are you lifting on chassis or axles?

Not good to leave on a lift for too long, places strain on CV's and suspension.
A few day or two but ideally no longer, good practice to lower and support suspension if you need it on there for a while.
you get the same problem with Spitfires and VW beetles, leave em up there too long they get upset.
