Hi.. I’m new to this forum and would really appreciate some advice.. I have a 2012 freelander 2 with the high spec fibre optic radio system.. I recently damaged the radio head unit by putting a power surge through it while fitting an aftermarket sat nav. The local land rover main dealer diagnosed it as a failed ‘head unit’ and want £1200 to replace it. Q: can I get a 2nd hand Land Rover radio and simply replace the damaged one? Does the radio have a code? Will the same model land rover unit be compatible with the rest of the cars systems without any technical wizardry needed? And, forgive my ignorance, but does ‘head unit’ mean the actual radio box and fascia? Would I need any other parts?
Many thanks in advance for any help.
