My current tyres are nearly worn to the legal limit so I need to change soon (wheels as well for what I want).
My question is; If I fit 255 85 r16 Mud Terrains without any modification to the 110 Defender, will the tyre rub/snag at any point? e.g. on full lock, full articulation etc. I need the extra ground clearance but don't want to modify the vehicle.
I have posted about these tyres some time ago but I just wanted to clear up this point.
Any help greatly appreciated.

i have 255/85 R16 Cooper STT's fitted on a 90 mine has a 2" lift and i rekon the tyre is posibly rubing on something but not been able to locate / find problems and when i do think it rubbing i cant get out to check. so if any one has more info on this please help me and 110daddy out

front radius arms on ful lock... im running 265/75 grizzly's. originally the vehicle wanst lifted and it was fine. i have since lifted it. if its rubbing on the radius arms you can adjust the stops if it really bothers you.

85's on 255 will be pretty wide. cant you go for 75's? 255/75 should be fine.

correct i have since had closer look and it is front radius arm one little patch is smoth and shiny but not bad dont noti the rub on day to day driving

As Griffdowg says... just adjust your stops..will give you slightly less of a turning circle tho.

I just put 30mm spacers on.....sorted.

They do stick out a bit.......but i aint bin pulled yet.....!!

I.m on 265/75r16 BFG muds on modular wheels and no problems on my 110. Don't know if the previous owner adjusted anything but going by some of the other bits on the vehicle I wouldn't think he did. Don't know if the wheels might have a bit more ofset than standard??

I know it's an old post but I've been without a Land Rover for a bit so havent been on.
I did get these tyres and the DO scrub the wheel arches so I had to saw off quite a bit which pi**ed me off because I asked tons of people and they said they wouldn't. Anyway, I sold the 110 and got a Jimny but am selling that and getting a 90 (cant beat LR!).
The best off road tyres I've ever had are the army XCL's - skinny, big tread, loud but grippy!

255/85s are ~33" tall. I now have these on my 300tdi 90. This is lifted though. not scrubbed on anything and no problem at the front end. A great tyre size overall.

Heard good things about the XCL's. Cant wait to try the set fitted to my Lightweight :)
