2011 FREELANDER LIGHTS. WILL THEY FIT?

Looking at a picture of a 2010/2011 Freelander. The Front Lights look as if they might fit a 2002/2003 Mark 1 Freelander without too much trouble. Does anybody know if it"s possible. I"m still looking for a Facelift front to fit my 2003 Serengeti but always seem to be too late whenever I find one advertised because they"ve normally already been sold.

FL2 headlights won't fit a FL1 as a straight swop. Yer could make them fit by force with a lot of cutting (same for lights oft an artic) but it would look out of place and silly.

This^^^^
It's easier to fit the facelift FL1 lights and bumper. You'll still need to trim some metal though. ;)
 
Thanks for that both. I"ve been trying to find a decent facelift lights and bumpers for over 6 months, the only ones I can find are at silly prices, but thanks any way.
 
Why to you need to change them? I've never been keen on mods like this as I can't see where yer gain value from it other than looking at it. For me the money would be betterer spent on service/maintenance for the future.

Improvement in headlight output is the main reason for fitting facelift headlights. Thay are much brighter with better beam control than the earlier lights.

I'd try regular trips to a local breaker's yard. There is a certain amount of luck involved but if you time it right you'll get there when one has just got in and you'll be able to bag the lot.

Each to their own - but I am not sure that they're worth the effort - but you may be of a different mind!

I suspect that the light guards have been fitted to disguise the cut lines in the bumper and any mismatch between the lamps and the profile of the leading edge of the bonnet. Getting this to look good even on close inspection is going to prove quite a challenge!

The cuts to the bumper are badly made imo.
The bumper shell is soft and pliable enough to bend under the light. The cuts would then be out of sight, hidden by the lens.

Ah yeah i didnt notice the bumpers had been cut at first glance. Now i see the cut lines ive changed my mind!

I assume the lights are halogen but I'm not that au fait with the FL2. Perhaps others will be able to tell?

Personally, I think the chap has made a good job of it but it's not for me because of the bonnet lip shape not matching up with the top of the light lens. I do think they look better without the guards on though as the inboard round section of the guard looks a bit awkward. The side profile looks good with the wing however.

They look like the halogen FL2 type to me. Lot of work just to change the lights over but it's his vehicle his choice.
