2011 FL2 egr delete.

Hi folks.
I'm planning on attempting to blank of the egr on my 2011 fl2 diesel.
Is there an issue with the car going into limp mode or is this something I can rectify at home?
I've also read that fl2's from 2010 onwards can't be blanked?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

First off, you have to question why you want to blank the EGR in the first place? And if it's worth the effort and expense.

Second, no you can't 100% successfully blank a 2011 FL2 at home.

The problem comes as after 2010 the emissions rule makers got smart to people simply blanking off the EGR, so car manufacturers were made to plug this loophole, by monitoring the intake temperature, and flagging a code with MIL on the dash, to prevent it from being carried out easily.

It is still possible, but you will need to have the EGR mapped out the ECU, or in some cases, it is possible to allow a small amount of exhaust gas to pass, which sometimes works to keep the sensors happy.

But on a modern vehicle, I don't see much gain in not having the EGR connected, especially as it helps with fuel efficiency.

I blanked it off and run it for a half hour around the town I live in. Seeks ok but I'm guessing it might go into limp mode on a longer journey. I'm no expert on these rings so thanks for the advice. I'll see how it goes over the next few days.
