200tdi steering wheel change over??

I have a 301 landrover steering wheel, I want to fit it onto my 200 tdi defender 1990 model.
My mechanic told me he cant find a way to fit it.
Do I need anything else to make it fit and does anyone know where I can get the parts from.

splines are different on steering column I believe, would have to change steering column too.

(ready to be corrected...)
