Hey, Looking for help and advice from anyone who can please!!!
Converting 86 n/a diesel LR90 to 200tdi. Engine is in and conversion under way, upon trying to turn the engine over with ignition, there is a click from what sounds like the fuse board, or starter motor and the engine fails to turn. However, on the dash the hand brake light is illuminating and after a while of holding on the ignition, the dash starts to smoke. This is the first conversion I have done and I am learning as I go, but need some useful pointers as to what is happening here please. Sorry if unclear. (new battery has been charged and connected, still no joy). Just wondering if I have a connection wrong somewhere
Regards, Kinson

you seem to have not connected them correctly.....you should have 2 brown wires and a red on to your starter motor and a push on connector

Cheers. Just inspected to make sure, I have one red wire which is positive (leading off to the battery) and two browns connected to the top terminal on the starter motor, and one push on connector leading of with a red & cream wire to the side of that......

I'm pretty sure that it is wired correctly from the discription given above and manuals, however still no joy unfortunately.

make sure you check the earth wire, at the starter motor and also where it connects to body. That exactly what was happening to me when my spade connector kept coming off
