Afternoon peeps,

So I’m coming to the end of a very long and mind numbing experience with my electrics, and I have just gone to put the fuses in, but I’m struggling to find a diagram that works with this loom from autosparks..... that said the Haynes manual would suggest the loom is correct??

The closest match I found was AMR3944 however it states;
13 & 14 are aux at 20A and 15 at 5A
16 (30A) - 17 (15A) are to do with the air con, I don’t have air con.
19 - I’m guessing would be the stereo
20 - is the fuel pump

which on the diagram;
13 - goes to the cigarette lighter (it’s actually spare, no connector??)
14 - does not exist on the diagram but has two brown wires out of the fuse holder?
15 - does not exist on the diagram but has two brown wires out the back?
16 - rear wiper switch
17 - heated rear window/relay
19 - does not exist on the diagram but has 3 white and orange wires out the back??
20 - non existence on the diagram or on in the holder??

Any help would be greatly appreciated as always.

Many thanks
Tom

Hey Mystery,

So firstly many thanks with the diagram you did before, I have it a good shot and failed!

I did manage to get a few things to work, I had the engine fire up off the ignition, the oil light came on and went off the fuel gauge worked and a couple of other things.... but I couldn’t tie it all together, so bought autosparks LR416, LR440, LR428 waiting on LR461, LR476, LR473, LR485, LR465, LR901 and 616-342.

Problem is, it don’t match the diagram and they can’t even identify a particular connection themselves!! I asked for the latest/last loom made for a 200tdi they said they sent me the last one as asked for, which is for a 1996.... did they not stop making the 200tdi in 1994?....

That to one side, they have still gave me something far better than I would have achieved (if I can get it to work)... I have connected some of it... let me know if you can read my writing (excuse the fact I’m writing to myself)

CURIOUS ABOUT FUSE 6 UW AND US SHOULD BE HEADLIGHT LH MAIN BEAM NOT U AND US
FUSE 10 IS QUESTIONABLE UW AND U/LU SHOULD BE U AND UP REAR FOG DOESN'T TALLY WITH STANDARD WIRING HAVE THEY ASSEMBLED IT WRONG

So looking in more detail, it would appear to be correct however you have have it round the wrong way i.e. the evens should odd and visa versa (I did try to change what you did in paint, but when I tried to fill the boxes only half would fill........ my computer skills are as good as my electrics, sorry lol).

Fuse 6 I will check again tomorrow just in case it also goes to the head light, but I'm not sure if you will see in photo it goes to where I think the fog light goes, which is the picture I'm holding a connector and there is two red and yellow wires which go in to one and in the same plug is the blue and slate??

Fuse 10 I have listed as L/H full beam, not sure about rear fog?

Please excuse some of the dodgy wiring you may notice, but at the same time I'm trying complete the TD5 dash conversion

Many thanks
Tom

Ahhh I can see now from your first diagram and from this one, they have, as you say reversed them and have merged the two looms in a way that must have suited them.... because the first diagram matches most of it and this explains all most all the other half!!

Once again thank you, so much!!

Yes i would agree with this entirely, obviously I wasnt aware of the incorrect colours, but it does match now. I take it 13 on the diagram must just pick it up off a different feed (use a shared fuse?) as it's blank/spare?

think 13 may have been cigar lighter illumination can't see the logic behind it though,seem to remember the Australian cigar lighter using green a whilst we were using purple
may be a spin off from that

Ok, well I won’t have much time today so I’ll see if I can get that one to work.
Another question if you would be so kind;

The white and slate cable which goes to the dash to the low level fuel unit... where is this low level fuel unit and how does it work? I’m presuming it’s some sort of float device within the tank which when it gets too low, it makes a connection/disconnection with earth and the light comes on???
Reason I ask, is I only have two wires coming out of the tank, but either way round (one to earth and one to the green and black cable from the rear chassis) they make the fuel gauge move up, and as the white and slate cable does not go to the back of the car, I’m struggling to work it out.

So.....

You was quite right (AGAIN), it was behind the panel, I’m doing the TD5 dash upgrade at the same time so it was just a simple case of connecting the WS from the diagram to the WO from the dash, happy days!
Definitely over thought the physical aspect of the unit itself..... every day’s a school day!!
So again THANK YOU!!!

The only things that maybe worth changing would be pin11 is blue and slate (as discussed, in this loom) and pin 22 has a 2 wires, R and a RB, Pin 24 has R and a RO, although not sure how you show that on your colour chart? Or even if you need to, it’s sort of self explanatory I guess.... Either way I’m printing this out as it’s a MASSIVE HELP!! should be archived somewhere in my opinion!!
