Has anyone had experience on the electric motor for the window regulator coming loose (unscrewed) and causing the quadrant to miss the gear on the motor?
I've had all the assembly out of the door expecting it to be bent and twisted after it failed yesterday, but the only thing I can find is that the 3 screws holding the motor to the mechanism have loosened off. I'm thinking that this could be the trouble, allowing just enough space for the quadrant to lift off the drive gear.
This complete mechanism was a new replacement about 3 years ago.
Made a horrible noise.
Is a common occurance or is there a way to fix it for good.
3 self tapping screws screwed into plastic doesn't inspire confidence.
Cheers Tb2

I can only say that i had exactly the same thing happen to me on my Disco 2. But on mine the three fixings were bolts into metal, not screws into plastic.
Yikes!
But all i had to do was free off and lubricate the mechanism, mainly on the "Scissor" joint and then tighten it all up.
So you may be lucky. Maybe use some loctite?
Best of luck

Evening all. Following on from my first post concerning the def. front window regulator , it was so loose I was able to get the motor off the scissor mechanism. It's gone again, only this time I can undo 2 of the 3 motor fixing screws but I can't get at the third one to separate the drive mechanism from the quadrant. Any ideas?
Short of drilling a hole in the quadrant to enable the final screw extraction I'm a bit stuck.
Does anybody have any ideas what the Allen screw does on the end of the motor spindle?
Is it attached to a worm drive that I could take out freeing off the drive gear?
Thoughts anyone please.
Cheers tb2
