can anyone tell me if the head gasket problem has been fixed on these things; mate told me about the problems previous ones had, about 48 hours from picking mine up.

also who makes the engines for the 2004 freelander 1.8s.

Ford ,but your engine still same as the problem ones,dont worry yer head on the hg problem, still older models running and never had a problem, you only hear about the sob storys , keep an eye on your water level and oil at all times , and be happy, welcome and best oh luck Eathling. . . .:)
 
i thought it was rover, a company called powertrain made them i beleive,not sure what happened when rover closed though

They made my L Series too...sob.... Powertrain gone bust now aint they?

dunno but L series was ok, never had probs with them apart from the odd injection pump packing up, only ever done one head on an L series and that was cos it was cracked near an injector and seeping coolant out
