2003 TD4 fuel pump

we have a 52 reg td4 with a single fuel pump which is in need of replacement. The Haynes manual suggests that it must be replaced from beneath the vehicle but there appears to be access from inside the vehicle, beneath the rear seats. Can the pump be changed from inside the vehicle. If anyone has any experience of doing so I'd appreciate any tips. The manual does seem to indicate that the pump on the petrol version can be changed from inside the vehicle. Many thanks.

I thought the single pump models had the pump behind the rear wheelarch & the twin pump models had one in the tank plus one underbonnet?

As chromie has said if you definitely only have one pump its accessed by removing the right rear wheel and wheelarch liner. The body shell still has an access plate under the seat for removal of fuel tank pick up/level sensor unit.
