2003 L322 HSE V8 4.4L Petrol: mysterious connector - please help

Good afternoon,

Recently, I have made a purchase of my first RR, and I am slowly going through everything, ordering replacement parts, and planning all the repairs.

Could somebody help me identify the connector on the picture? I found it hanging within the bay. It seems to be originating from a bunch of cables located around the offside wheel. I cannot see any obvious place to stick it into.

Probably for a feature not fitted to your car

Don’t know but mine has the same and has no issues with running without it so can only sumise that it is something to do with something for the American market

Looks to be for the Secondary Air Injection system.....which appears to be missing on your engine....there should be an aluminium pipe that runs from one bank to the next across the front of the water pump and has a vacuum operated valve on it, operated by a solenoid on top of the intake manifold....

Then there is the SAI air pump under the intake filter with a pipe leading to this valve ont he cross pipe....your cross pipe appears to be missing!
