After much searching, I conclude that there are two types of LP fuel pump arrangement for the TD4. In tank and in engine bay pump - up until about 2002 then wheel arch pump only.

My question is this; is the wheel arch pump and the in engine bay pump the same part number? Photos suggest they are identical but can anyone confirm please?

Mine has the in engine bay pump which is needing a 'tap' to resolve starting problems and a P1260 code so i guess it is the pump. Connections and pressure sensor connections all good.

Thanks

Underbonnet pump is different to the in wheel arch pump

Both the same, it is just the holding container that is different, they are also the same on a R40 or MGZT diesel, and some BMW

what ever you do don't replace with a cheap one or you will be doing it again .just that bit more at the time and it should last you for a few years.
