2001 4.6 Vogue headlights

Can anyone help? the headlights on my P38 come on about 5 minutes after switching off the engine, and occassionally flicker. With the ignition on they go off and stay off until switched on.

I've had to disconnect the battery or they'll stay on and run the battery down.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

just the standard, I've made no changes since purchase 4 years ago.

Look for wet carpet in the drivers footwell and under the drivers seat. If it's wet the problem is likely to be corrosion on the connectors to the BECM or condensation inside the unit.
