I have to get my engine replaced and have been offered a second hand with similar mileage by the dealer.
I'm considering taking money off him instead and put some money towards a region engine.

I'm having difficulty finding how much a recon engine is and where to get one.

Does anyone know how much I should need to pay for a recon 200 DTI engine so I have an idea? Not fitted, I can't return my engine as the block is cracked ...

Theres a couple of guys on ebay who do them, doing it yourself means you can also look at other parts that need changing ie clutch etc.

I have a garage in mind to do it but would get the clutch done. I said to the dealer about getting the clutch done if he replaces the engine but this way I know what parts have been changed for certain...
I'll have a look on eBay thanks.

Ive read a few interesting things about turners and they werent very good, I know the people involved so would say dont assume they are always good.

I've asked my local parts supplier and they know of some customers who fit recon engines, he is going to ask them from a realistic price I will need to pay, I know I'm going to get good advice from him.

What about Engine Solutions Ltd, Colchester? Very good reviews, 5*'s, anyone else here know of these guys, FYI I am Craniums better half, and my gut instinct is recon, I want this vehicle to last, and be able to pass it on to our daughter!

Im not saying they are good or bad, but read between the lines of the reviews to get an idea, then maybe go and have a chat.
Thing is with reviews they dont always tell the whole story and can be manipulated.
