Afternoon all, have had the Land Rover 14 months now and never replaced the batteries in either of the key fobs. Think it may be time to replace one of them at least but the owners manual in the vehicle doesn't mention anything about the alarm and bits.

The owners manual I've downloaded which must be a later revision as it has this in:
1)Unlock vehicle, disarm alarm.
2)Turn starter to position II, back to position 0, and remove the key.
3)Prise apart handset.
4)Slide battery out.
5)Press and hold one button for 5 seconds to drain residual power from handset.
6)Fit new battery.
7)Reassemble the 2 halves, and press the padlock button at least 4 times to resync the vehicle with the handset.

Don't really want to de-program one of fobs and have to pay someone to re sync it with the vehicle.

Just after some clarification that this is the procedure for an older vehicle. Mine is a '96 Defender 90 CSW.

Have searched online and all that ever seems to turn up is Disco forums.

Thanks in advance,

Nick

Thanks for the reassurance gents, went out and changed it no fuss whatsoever. Just my usual panic when splitting a car fob or remote that it won't work when it's clipped back together again.

The metal bit that holds the battery is only held by 1 of the 3 solder points, so will take it into work and get a decent soldering iron on it at some point to hold it together a bit better. Must have had someone ham fisted mechanic working on it at some point.
