Ok going up m/way yesterday and blew top of rad fitted new one from euro car parts started her up and overheating and no circulation? Bought water pump with metal impeller and refit ran ok for a few miles then temp gauge went cold then red hot and overheated. Again is this a duff rad thermostat or head gasket pls help I'm loosing the will to live thankyou
 
Check the rad has the baffle in the top of it....

Remove rad, and see if you can roll a marble from one side to the other!

If you can....need a different rad....the top flow design requires this baffle to stop the water from just going in once side and out the other.

Sounds like you have had a pretty bad airlock after fitting new rad. Check it as Ant says rad is no good if it does not have the baffle. Make sure you follow the instructions in RAVE for filling system. See what you get. Get someone to check it with a static test rig. Should run at 5 - 6 or so PSI fully warm at idle.
 
You didn't replace the stat when you did the pump?

Try the stat. Check all air out. Blow down the tiny line coming off top of the radiator to make sure clear.
 
Changed expansion tank cap re bled and unblocked small pipe and all seems well done 10 hard miles and temp sitting at 12 o'clock all the time cheers guys ( something worked) great site by the way!
