Hi all was under the landy the other day and noticed a fair bit of oil comeing from the back of the engine, it appears to be coming from the very back on the clutch housing where there is a threaded hole almost like a drain plug but there is no plug. So has any one got any ideas is a seal that has failed, and should there be a plug in the threaded hole?
many thanks
kyle

Sounds like rear crankshaft oil seal to me. Gearbox to get out of the way which is the worst part of the job then old seal popped out and new one in, gearbox back on and away you go.

The threaded hole is a drain hole that is there to let dust and debris out of the bell housing. It's threaded to allow you to put a plug (can get them off eBay) in there if your going wading and don't want the clutch getting wet.

Don't fill it up if your read oil seal is leaking as the oil will just collect in th bell housing and get all over the clutch :)
