I've seen so many people complain about their engines on the 2.5 DSE ...I've never had a single problem ...Are some engines just bad? I'm curious.

im curious 2, wonder if there is major differences in engines that have been serviced religiously and ones that just get left alone. From posts that i have read if you just change your water pump evry couple of years and only replace parts with originals and not cheap copys then i dont think you would go far wrong! lets see what everyone else has to say!

I don't think the majority of us willingly but 'cheap copy parts'
Most of the big online LR parts specialists don't make it very obvious that you are buying a pattern part, even the prices are not too far away from a main dealers for a lot of items.

But sometimes I think that the main agents are racketeers...

I bought a bolt from my local LR main agent recently, about an inch and a quarter long, nothing special, except for the fact that it alone holds the camshaft sprocket in place, the price.......£7.73! what would you think it cost to produce? I would guess less than 10 pence.

i know we bang on about how expensive the stealers are but at the end of the day we wouldnt have the cars we are driving now if it wasnt for people paying the price for parts or servicing, and what ever people say you do get what you pay for!!

£7.73 for a camshaft sprocket retaining bolt how much is the engine damage going to cost if it it shears? it doesnt seem so dear when you look at it like that:)

I totally agree with you, hence the reason I bought the bolt and didn't use a pattern one or re-use the old one, but we are being taken for a ride with the prices!

Take a look in the showrooms, sumptuous leather sofas, better carpet than my house!!, who's paying for it? the chumps that pay 75k for a new HSE and us buying parts!!!!

The bolt will be of a specific tensile strength and your 10p bolt may not be up to it! do you feel lucky for the sake of £7 odd!!?
Sometimes you just have to take it on the chin and keep smiling! The right bolt should only be £1 though!!
