2.5 BMW P38.1997Poor start Poor running.

My p38 Diesel Has Always been a poor starter when hot but is now taking ages to start from cold.When pushed hard/ high revs Will loose power In fact today it cut out completely.Clear pipe from filter to Fuel injector pump has bubbles in it can't be right The problem is getting worse the engine becoming more difficult to start. Is the fuel pump not pushing enough fuel? or allowing air into lines?How do u know if pump is working? cant hear it!Tried the hot start mod not changed the situation.has anyone out there any ideas? Only had this p38 5months Wish I stuck to my old classic Her idoors does too!

by your description you are getting air into the fuel system somewhere before your filter air in a diesel motor doesn't work too well! firstly find your air leak look for arears of corrosion you may find this time consuming and it may be quicker to replace the fuel lines, once you have done that you should have the problem sorted

thanks Ksg for your reply will begin on thursday to hunt it down.Another question For anyone -the pipe is a stiff type of black plastic. To replace do I buy the pipe as a preshaped Section or off the roll and fit the unions
