Hi all,

Recently experiencing a rough idle on the 2.4. Has never had this issue before in my ownership but since last week it has started, occasionally, struggling to maintain 800rpm at a stand still. Sometimes drops 50-100rpm then jumps straight back to 800 and other times it drops low enough to cut out.
So far only seems to be an issue once I’ve taken the car on a run then left it an hour or two and started it up again - it’s been fine from dead cold. After about 10 minutes of driving it’s always okay and will idle all day long when at lights etc. There are seemingly no issues whilst in motion, pulls well.
Within the last year I’ve replaced injector seals and cleaned up the injectors (seemed fine just a bit of usual carbon), replaced MAP and MAF sensors with genuine parts (they are still clean), carried out two services so new fuel filter and I replaced the VCV for a new Denso unit maybe 5000 miles ago.
I’m crap at diagnostics and there are no codes to read. Does this sound like I’m unlucky and it’ll probably need another VCV or does it point towards rail pressure sensor or relief valve?
Injectors seemed okay when last out and I would have thought there’d also be issues whilst driving if one or more were bad? Saying that they are original and I’m at 143,000 miles.
Fuel pump doesn’t tend to be noisy but my breather pipe is beyond its best, could it be crap in the system? I have run it through a bottle of redex and no joy yet. Again though, surely I’d also have issues whilst driving?

Any advice would be great, don’t want to throw hundreds at parts if it points promisingly towards a particular failure!
Cheers
