After removing my cylinder head, cleaning it up, reseating the valves, etc.

I've come to the stage where I've put the cylinder head back on and I've put all the bolts in and about to tighten them up and torque them up.

All of the head bolts go in fine with there heads sitting on the surface of the cyliner head, apart from one row of bolts, the second row in from the right, which sit on the machined face for the rocker cover.

When screwed in, these seem to sit about an inch above the surface of the cylinder head, and will not screw in anymore, each of them at the same height.

Could anybody help me figure out why this has happened, and how to remedy it?

I'm itching to get the 50 year old girl back on the road. :)

Many thanks.
