My hybrid 2.5 diesel is up and running.
I've covered about 500 miles so far and all seems well.
Basically I've taken an ex MOD 12J engine and chucked away the belt drive timing cover etc, and retrofitted a chain drive timing system, along with the series type injection pump mounted vertically on the block.
Now I've fitted a nearly new series type oil pump in the sump.
I've still got the 12J oil pump, which has a braced pickup filter, sitting on the workbench.
I just want to know if Land Rover increased the capacity of the pump when they went to the 2.5 litre engine ?
The 12J seems to have oil jets fitted to the underside of the main oil gallery, presumably to help cool and lubricate the lower bores and piston skirts.
It's been suggested to me that the oil pump was uprated to keep up the oil pressure.
Anyone know if that's true ?
Now I did have another series type oil pump somewhere, to compare with the 12J one.
If only I could find the damn thing.
