I thought I would share with you all a mistake I made whilst rebuilding my series last year. Might give some of you a laugh. I'm not new to land rovers, but I've never had a series before. When I bought it the interior was all in pieces. Nothing was assembled. The previous owner told me that it needed a new bearing in the top of the steering column amongst other things. When I had a look at the column I thought the guy had tried removing the bearing by grinding a slot into the side of the column. I thought 'what an idiot' at promptly welded it up and painted the column. It wasn't until I was refitting the interior that I realised what the slot was for. Who looked like the idiot then grinding a slot back into the column to fit my indicator stalk.
