Glad its not me!

My niece passed her test today and is looking at various small cars..ka, aygo etc...anyone recommend a first time insurance company for her?

As its non landy i reserve te right to ignore the 'do a search ffs' answers :D

**** off ;)

Erm I used Churchill when I had my first car £1700 it was

Admiral is cheap if you can convince the parents to do a multi car policy, as was NFU when I had the use of my parents disco as a shared user rather than occasional so mileage was split 50/50 between me and dad

Her dads got a company car, her mum has only 3 years NCB with father as a named driver...she wants to build her own NCB so would like own policy on own car....or is there a way she can 'share' legally with her father a a named driver?

Not sure if this will help but a mate of mine's son has a gadget fitted, like a tracker, that informs the insurance company of the manner the vehicle is being driven. I also think he is restricted to daytime driving or such like. If he drives well the insurance stays low(er). When searching, use confused.com and when you receive a quote, contact the ins co and ask if the device can be fitted. Good luck. PS If you want I can find out his ins co.

Churchill might be cheaper mate had a Ka with them for around £1050 I think

I'm with Co-Op and my defender was £2000 a year, its down to £1500 now with 1 year NCB :D

Admiral do a multi car policy for any car at the same address so she could be the only named driver and still get it cheaper

Would that allow her to build up her NCB? if it would then I went the wrong way really

Yes it would as long as she's the policy holder on the car

I'm on that with my parents,

I have a disco in my name and then dad has a disco and a shogun so he gets no claims on 2 I get no claims on 1

not heard of them before, but it sounds like a good thing if it means better insurance prices for younger drivers whilst also forcing them to drive sensibly and carefully, and if for instance they became law and had to be installled in every young drivers/new test passers car for say 2 years or a period of time and when proved good the driver then "passes" that period and its removed, then them habbits will more likley stay with the driver, less accidents or wreckless younger drivers, less accidents, less involving other drivers and their insurance, and all round lowering insurance prices for everyone on the road, which can only be a good thing

I think I did the wrong thing, but at least its going to get cheaper soon :D

I always found elephant to be cheapest but ther monthly instalment plan is about 36% apr!
Other than that I would deff recommend looking at swift cover. Ther the cheapest by far that I could find for me, it's all online so you don't have to talk to an Indian called 'Geoff' who carnt understand you, and if you want to pay monthly ther also cheap

Just spoke to my apprentice who looking at a car and he recons he got a quote for a ka for 3500grand!

No wonder there so many un-insured drivers about!

My 20 yr old son first went with Churchill then we went with Admiral multicar which is saving us over 1k a year we all have our own no claims, just one monthly payment for our 5 cars.
If she want's to get her own insurance that's fine but make sure she gets her mother as a named driver this 99% lowers the premium, usually not so much with dad on there though.
