Just a quickie, my daughter just opened the FNS passenger door on my LR, & the door dropped breaking the upper hinge, i managed to relocate it & close it. My question is. Shall i replace all the hinges at the same time or shall i just wait for the next one to break. I cant believe a new hinge is only £6.95 from one of our suppliers on the forum. So a week into owning my cracking LR, which i am loving, & the first thing to go wrong costs less than a tenner to fix. If this happened to my OH's lexus it would be in the garage for a few days & would costs hundreds, although i doubt it would have broke in the first place in her car. Also, what tool is required to remove the hinge, i can see its a star head but dont know the size or technical term. Thanks in advance for any help.cheers J

id replace the others at same time ,remember there different top /bottom and side to side ,so check each as you swap it ,its worth getting some new bolts and captive nuts ,and undercoating and painting a day or so before

cheers for that. i thought it might be a good idea to do all at the same time. regarding the upper hinges, on mine the wing mirrors attach to them, am i being stupid but how do i reattach the WM's to the hinges. Also, i was thinking the new hinges would look rather good in bare metal, dont hold back if i'm being dumb, do i have to repaint them in the body colour to match?...

paint them or lacquer them as you want but they will rust without something,w/mirrors bolt through from other side top hinges come with holes for mirrors ,might be worth getting fresh bolts for those to lubricate bolt threads before fitting

thanks again, been looking at them via the link on the forum. Its looking rather obvious & embarrasing for me....might have to use the search function before posting. but thanks all the same JM..

Just done this days prior spray the bolts with penetrating fluid every time you walk past and you will need an impact driver!
