Had this around a year and a half now, but now I need something with better mpg for the commute to work. Have replaced a few things on it in my ownership including
100 amp alternator with twin battery setup
Trailing arms and poly bushes
Power steering pump
Full timing belt kit + front crankshaft oil seal
Rear prop doughnut
The only niggles i have with it are the clutch release bearing is sometimes noisy on first startup, and if revved from cold it will missfire and smoke. It does'nt do it if you drive it rather than revv it and clears within the time it takes to drive to the end of my street. It also has the dreaded 1st to second gear crunch if you are to enthusiastic with it. Also looks like the rocker cover gasket is leaking. I also broke my drivers chair last week (I blame Land Rover build quality rather than my ample frame
) so i have sort of fitted a seat from a Mondeo. It fits but needs a bit of fettling if you want to keep it. The drivers electric window seems to be stuck and the passenger window makes a funny sound when you close it. And the sunroofs are sealed shut but possibly need resealing as i had a drop the other day.
I have been doing 260 miles a week going to work with it lately and just on Saturday did a 220 mile round trip with it and never missed a beat and uses no oil or water. I cant even remember the last time (other than today to try it) that i tried to use hi/lo and difflock, selected hi and lo no problem also the same for the difflock (the light doesnt come on and never has so i presume its a broken bulb or the like)
Rust wise she is very good. The previous owner fitted 2 new inner wings and a boot floor. Underneath is either shults or wax oiled. Few bubbles coming through on the rear arches now aswell.
Has 5 Michelin XZL's with plenty of tread left on
I also have a box with an assortment of spare parts including water pump, glowplugs, belts, etc (also have a second alternator bracket and the timing belt locking pins somewhere).
It had 3 advisories on the MOT
1, Anti roll bar has slight play (2 new links/bushes included in box of bits)
2, Steering system has slight play (fitted 2 new drag links last week)
3, Rear seatbelt flexible stalk damaged but not likely to lead to failure under load (I jammed the plastic bit under the seat when putting the seats back and it broke off)
The dashcam and dvd player are not included but i will include a Panasonic CD player in the sale
It has 11 months MOT and 9 months Tax.
