Hoy, uhm so yea.
Changed the diesel filter today.
Tried to fill the filter up by bridging my pump relay..
Didn't do nothin. Not a drip of diesel, no sound.

And woilah i had to take a trip to the gas station with a 5L tank/bottle...

I've mistaken it before, due to low/no noise, but i actually got some diesel out at that time... and a decent flow...
However.. I only have an issue starting the car when its got less than 1/4 diesel left. Then it uses atleast 5-10 more seconds than normal (normal is just straight away)

Thing is... Should i swap it?

I've read that theres no acces panel under the rear seats, so its needed to do some cutting.. (Which i don't have any particular bad mind for)

Will it harm my FIP, overload it etc if i dont fix the pump?

It does me nothing to make sure it has over 1/4 tank left, but if it harms my rangie...

(I got the car started straigth away after filling the filter up with the diesel i bought with my 5L tank) so no harm.
Old diesel filter was black inside ._. but not much gunk, but i will guess theres better flow now.

Guess i might've overloaded my intank pump due to probably bad flow trough filter???

I always fill the new filter with diesel before putting it on, saves having to bleed.

My plan was always to prefill it, because a friend of mine used his started for over 10 minutes trying to get a mercedes to start... (which is easy started normally)

I was just gonna bridge the intank pump so it gave me some diesel like water from a tap.. but the intank pump said no

after getting fillimg it up it started up at the second, no stuttering

Personally I would change the intank pump. Think its 50 /50 dropping tank or cutting plate out in boot. Mine had had the latter done in the past so I did mine this way without having to drop tank. If you use search facility some one has put on how to measure and where to cut if you go that route. Google the pump replacement if you do as there are photos on interweb

Sounds like a project before the winter, or after.. idk.

Do i need to seal it after changing the pump? the cut out latch... Silicone? or tek-7 copycat?
Not prone to rust?

I painted mine with hammerite and them sealed it down with metal putty from Wilko's. They are pellets you just rub together and then apply. Called Unibond 6 pack repair express putty at £4.50 Have used it on loads of things

Black in the filter could be bacterial growth? Has anyone run it on vegetable oil? If there is bacterial growth in the tank I'd want it out. I'd replace the lift pump if it is shot. Dropping the tank doesn't take long if it is empty. I stuck my arm up the side and just cut the rubber pipe joining to the filler neck. It'll probably be perished anyway so replace it. With the tank out the way you can access the brake pipes a lot easier. Well worth giving them a good check while you're in there. You'll do the job in an afternoon.

I don't have much historic about how the car has been used tbh, previous (1 year owner) just used it as a reserve car.

Is there perhaps a diesel tank bacteria additive? theres so many additives... i done the injector cleaner

Never needed one ro be honest. @Datatek once had an issue with one of his but I am unsure of the cause.

If your rear brake pipes have not been changed dropping the tank is a must then the pipes can be accessed better, and you will probably need a new tank to filler neck hose as they are all getting a bit passed it now.

Plus one to all of that. Had to replace the filler neck hose on both mine and the brake pipes on one.
