1995 GMC Jimmy - 6 mpg - HELP!

I have a 1995 GMC Jimmy, with the 4.3 liter, 6 cylinder (Vortec) "W"
engine. It is running rich and gets only 6 miles per gallon. I found the
3 sparkplugs on the passenger side fouled with carbon, while the 3 plugs on
the driver side have normal wear. What is the most likely cause of the
problem? Any ideas will be most welcome.

Just a guess:

Either the spark plug wires or the fuel injector lines are hooked up in the
wrong firing order.

And if I'm right, it's not really "running rich", so don't try to adjust the
mix. The unburned gas in the exhaust is from 3 non-working cylinders. When
you fix the firing-order problem, the richness will go away.

don`t ya think he would notice 3 dead cylinders
think it would run on 3

Check engine temp sensor for ECM (it is separate from temp gage sensor)
because if it is bad it will cause engine to run over rich when warm.
(still check this though only half the engine is fouled)

Maybe, maybe not...

My Toyota Camry lost 2 of the 4 cylinders. It did run rough, but
surprisingly nowhere near as bad as you'd think it would. It still
idled and I still managed to get a ticket for doing 80mph in a 55mph
zone. And even then it got way better than 6mpg.

I could pull the plug wires off of cylinders 2 and 4 and there was no
difference.

You did take it out of 4x4 mode first, right?

mAybe at a idle but I promise you they were doing some work at speed
because it would not have made 80 on 2 cylinders. If you do not believe
me, remove two plug wires and drive it.

Is your check engine light on? If so check for codes in the ECM. Are you
sure you arent leeking?
A bad PVC valve could have fouled your plugs. Althought your plugs are
only bad on one side, could be bad ignition parts.(cap, wires, make sure
the wires are snug too.6 mpg seems awfully bad. I had a jimmy with a bad
O2 sensor. Less power, more gas.But not that bad.

 
Haven't had that car for some time, so I can't repeat the test.

no noticeable difference. That wasn't on the interstate unfortunately,
so I can't say what it would've done at higher speeds.

I do remember that once it started running so bad, I had to keep it out
of overdrive to maintain any speed.

I will repeat:

That P.O.S. sat for months here in Atlanta, then I towed it back to TN
where it sat for a couple of years before some dude left a note on it
stating he wanted to buy it for parts.

I was rather disappointed that my financial situation didn't allow me
to haul it all the way to a large canyon/hole in the earth somewhere
out West so that I could have the satisfaction of pushing it off the
edge and sending it to a firey grave. I hated that damn car.
