Hi,
My good ole' dad has given me his old landie, which tbh needs quite a bit of work, the bodywork mainly. As i want to resurrect the beast, I'm hoping to add front spotlights, possibly do the 2002 dash mod and add a decent sound system.

With all this extra load in mind i did the sums, checked the alternator spec - Magneti Marelli A127-45 (original from 1991! Done 140,000 miles!), I'm assuming the 45 means 45 Amps, anyways i don't think the alternator will cope with the added demand. I was looking around the net and can't really find much in the way of Defender 200TDI alternators, there are lots of Disco ones. I would like one around the 100amp mark.

Does anybody know whether any of the 200TDi disco alternators fit or where all the Defender ones are?

Cheers:D

There's a couple of 100A alternators for the 300tdi disco - no idea if it's a straight swap or not.

AMR5425G Alternator 300TDI A127i 100 amp Magneti Marelli from VA534104 and VA703237

AMR5425G Alternator 300TDI A127i 100 amp Magneti Marelli from VA534104 and VA703237

Could only find one for the Defender, again for the 300tdi

Bearing in mind the Tdi's were Rover engines and Rover inherited the Austin / Morris / BLMC dirty tricks department, it wouldn't surprise me if it wouldn't fit. Mind you - there's not a lot of external difference between the 200 and 300 so with a little luck eh?

Cheers,
