I have a 1979 Land Rover. I'm fairly sure it needs a new chassis, complete rewiring and lots of cosmetic work. I'm trying to work out if it is worth having it fully restored or if I should simply sell it to someone who wants a big project. Any advice?

Can you weld? Any photos of the chassis?

This isn't a job I would take on myself—I'll either pay someone to restore it or sell it. I don't have any pictures of the chassis, but I've been reliably informed that it needs a new one.

If you are paying to have it properly restored it will cost 3 or 4 times its worth.
New chassis maybe twice what it's worth. All depends how much it owes you at the moment.

It doesn't owe me much. Maybe time to find an enthusiast who wants a project!
