Well not quite an over land exhibition with epic off road trails but great fun in the new car.
I had to use the roof rack out of principle! :cool2: so i put all the suit cases (and a bit of diving gear) up there. The Trip started just north of Newport south wales, we left at 6pm on Saturday and made our way to Portsmouth. Our ten month old was put in the car chair and sent off to sleep so pressure was off. We stopped at membury services for a quick bite to eat and then off to the ferry terminal we arrived at 9pm. We boarded the boat at 10am and was given priority boarding as we had a nipper on board with lots of stuff, pram, travel cot, bag after bag of changing stuff etc..!!! we pre booked a cabin and got our heads down, woke at 7am for a quick breakfast and the long haul to the south began.
The route was nice and easy really and even though i had done it a number of times over the years, it was the first time for about 15years! the sat nav was spot on! we docked at Le havre then made our way to Evreux, then to dreux over to Chartres, then picked the A71 motorway up at Orleans, down to Clermont Ferrand and up and down the mountain rage the Massif Central, which was a struggle in sixth!! then the best bit over the epic Pont de Millau.
love this bridge! an awesome engineering project at 343m at its highest point.
we manged to get from South Wales to our destinantion which was approximatly 45 mins from the Pont de Millau at 6pm on 2 & 1/2 tanks of gold dust too! we had two weeks chilling in 30c+ heat and then did the whole thing again in reverse!
