Thanks for the advice, but its not much use. At present I have a 12n socket fitted, so to power caravan internals etc I also need a 12s socket
There is not much point in fitting a 12s socket then b**gering about with a convertor when a 13pin socket will do the job properly
Has any fitted a Land Rover 13 pin din trailer socket kit to a TD5 90, is it a straightforward plug in, or there there some wire splicing/soldering etc involved
There is an official wiring kit and diagram for the 12s socket as I fitted one to mine, I will see if I can dig out what I used as may help with the 13pin instillation.Resurrecting this thread
l need to fit a 13 pin towing plug to our Defender TD5, l can use an adapter with my existing 7 pin plug but it won't work the caravan stability system.
The above link no longer works, is there an "official" wiring kit or is it a case of hard wiring it?
l take it the existing harness could be used along with some extra wires.

I know it has been said before but I would recommend fitting a 12s and using an adapter to take it to 13pin rather than fitting a 13pin and using an adapter to take it back to 7pin for older trailers. towing electrics are temperamental at best, and sit nicely in the path of all the salty road spray. A 13pin socket is an mot testable item whereas the 12s/n sockets are not.
