110 gearbox removal

Hi to everyone.This is my first thread.Having recently fitted a new clutch in my 110 200tdi (removed engine)I now have a rather horrible clinking noise when reaching the point of changing from 2nd to 3rd It sounds like dangling keys in a fan.If I were to remove gearbox what sort of job is it ,do i have to remove seat box.thanks
