Right, so this has me baffled. I've got a 1991 110 Defender 200tdi CSW. I've done a galved chassis and new chassis loom in the last 12 months. Couldn't afford to go full whammy with bulkhead and loom so that's a plan for the future.
So she's been running fine until I left her for a week or so and went to drive up the road. Got 150meters and engine died. Lost all dials on dash including the default start up lights. Starter would turn but she wasn't for starting.
After some closer inspection, found the feed (white cable) to the fuse for the interior lights and volt meter/temp fuse which splits to 2 wires I think green and brown. This is the fuse to the right of the blower motor. Fuse ok but somewhere that feed was broken. I've got a trip coming up so spending a week stripping the dash is not an option. So I took some advice and spliced a fused and switched wire from battery to that white feed.
Now when the switch is on she will start no problems. Also when I want to stop the engine I not only turn the key but turn the switch off. Seems like issue solved till I get round to do the bulkhead and loom in the future.
I changed out the wiper boxes and motor as the wipers kept sticking and drawing lots of power. I also re-earthed the heated windscreen directly onto the battery.
So scrolled out today to start her up and the battery is dead. Any ideas where to start or how to find what's draining the battery?
The battery is big 110cca and only 2 years old.
Alternator is a couple years old and is the upgraded 100amp.
Thanks in advance for any help with this.
