Hi - losing my rag trying to find the cause of what was an intermittent problem (once a month) that has escalated to a daily issue - my 110 300tdi 1998 cuts out for no obvious reason - idling, running, uphill, downhill, fuel full or empty, low or high...honestly there is no consistency as to identify why it just decides to cut out and have a rest at the side of the road.

I have changed the lift pump as it seemed to be an obvious solution but i didnt notice any difference and now its actually getting worse...

it will start after a 5 minute rest and normal starting hot or cold is never a problem - the only (almost) consistent part is that there is a 50/50 chance that as it cuts out, tunring the key off and back round again within a few seconds will kick it back to life - though as it does it anywhere it likes its not always an option for safety

any clues?

cheers, will check that asap! frankly im prepared to try just abt anything, i was going to post this friday then realised it was april fools....

Occured to me last night that this could also be caused by a nearly dead battery in your key fob.

i.e. its not turning the imobilser off properly.

Do you have to be very close to your Landy to turn the alarm off and on??

Thanks r those last ideas finally tracked the problem down to the immobiliser wiring -one was pushing 12v, the other 7volts - so all finally fixed

Thanks to everyone for their input !
