110 CSW/SW pros and cons?

Righto boys and girls, everything ok?

I made my first post a few days ago, and have been reading back posts like mad, and also bought three of the landy mags in the newsagents to get more knowledge together, and try to understand some of the language used.

I'm interested to know more about the 110 model, but can someone explain the difference, if there is one, between the CSW and the SW? I believe CSW stands for County Station Wagon, and the SW stands for Station Wagon. Is this right?

Now, for a bit more detail about my/our intended use.

Primarily I need to haul a heavy box around for work, that weighs anywhere between 250 and 400kgs. I personally weigh 90kgs. Other kit also weighs in around another 100kgs. There would be no other passengers when this stuff is being carried.

There needs to be space in the rear to carry this stuff, but some of it could go on a roof rack.

The second use is to carry the family. Both kids are babies - one is now two months and the other sixteen (cute!). Clearly I am thinking of the seating and safety arrangements of child seats in the 110 - any opinions on this? I thought the 110 CSW/SW had twelve seats - if so, can they be removed to leave only forward facing seats, and enough room for 'stuff' in the back?

Final points - I have to make some concessions to comfort to the wife - I am asking her to give up our second car, afterall. So we would like to see PAS and aircon. Are these standard, and if not, can they be fitted after-market?

Wife is tall like me, so is the driving position good for us biguns?

Sorry to have so many questions in one post - it's rare for me to be this lucid with two fingers (unless used against a boy racer ).

The weight is not an issue.

The seats are easily removed and repositioned and aftermarket desighns can be bought.

PAS and AICON can be fitted as standard but air con is rair. However a good non franchised landrover garage will fit theses if you ask.

Driving position is fine for tall people.

And you can have them any colour you like.

I would give huddersfield landrover centre a call as they can buy base models of any wheelbase and create a masterpiece for you.
If you dont want a new one they will find you exactly what your looking for.
there on the net under the landrover centre( huddersfield) ask for mark as he is helpfull.

Regarding Aircon, I looked into having this fitted (aftermarket) to my 90 and it is hellish expensive, so if you can you want to buy a 110 with it already fitted. Also you will be able to test drive, as the aircon dash and vents reduce the leg room significantly in the front, and you may find it too restricting if you are both v tall.

I think the differences between SW and CSW are mainly to do with the level of trim the standard county being a little more plush than the SW.

If you are in Bristol, try Hunters on Lodge Causeway, my friend bought his new 90 there couple of months ago and they were great.

you didn't state the size of the said box you intend to carry, you also didn' state how much you are going to spend on a 110 as for kiddy seats they will have one to fit most vehicles at halfords or even toys r us. as for aircon you should pick up a model with it fitted or if you are buying new then order it on the spec sheet

The box is 3' by 4' and about a foot high.
I have a budgie of about £1ok
Kids' seats - are currently fitted with three point belts in a small hatchback. I can't tell from the pics if the 110 has 3-point belts in the back (or front for that matter), or if we would have to buy completely new and different child seats to fit....

My 110 has 4, three point seat belts. My kids seats fit to these easily. The middle seats on the first and second row have no seat belts at all. The rear bench seats have no belts either but these are easy to remove also if you want a van type rear.

If you're budget is 10k you should pick and choose untill you find a mint one (yes they do exsist) possibly "S" registration.
