Hi There

I have decided to upgrade my Land Rovers Engine with the new arrival of a 24 foot caravan to go on holiday with. Currently in the Landy there is a 1982 LD28 straight 6 n/a diesel Nisan lump - Fantastic, slow but bomb proof and returns 26 mpg. But I need more umph and like the reliability of the nissan lumps. I have now aquired a Nissan Patrol GR SLX 4.2 straight 6 petrol lump with low milage.

Now that's out of the way - The question!

Engine comes with all bits and bobs bolted to it.... what else do i need? ie: ECU?, will the diesel gearbox be ok that is currently in it? Will the plate be the same (long shot i know!)? - Fly wheel? Anything else?

Any input will be greatly received of this damp and cold winter rebuild!!! (chassis waxoil and repaint also on the cards)

Many thanks

Rosco

The gearboxes were the same petrol or diesel, IIRC on the ones I dealt with in OZ, Are you intending to give a boost to opec, as these things were good for about 12mpg towing in OZ

Hi there

I will be lucky if i do 1200 - 1500 miles in a year with the landy so not really an issue (although i know where you are coming from!!!
