Hi to all,
Looking to replace the A-Frame ball joint on a 2004 110 (rover axles). Can this be done without having to jack the rear axle up?
All of the required nuts and bolts are accessible with all wheels on the ground. Is the reason for jacking the rear axle up to take the load off of the ball joint itself?

I have replaced the one on my 110 ('89) twice and neither time did I jack the axle, so it can be done.

Depending on how much you are changing (I did the bushes on the other ends of the "A" too) you may find you have to cut the bolts off.

you jack axle up for better access,a bottle jack under diff nose may help when refitting

Just following up. Removed ball joint bracket without having to jack axle, pressed out worn ball joint quite easily (surprisingly) on a 20ton press. Refitted bracket complete with new ball joint whilst using a bottle-jack as advised to raise the back axle to acheive the desired position for ball joint to fall in place.
Overall, the Job went well... too well...
